Back to School time is just around the corner and we want to help the teachers of SAISD kick off the school year. While our local teachers receive supplies from their campuses, we’d like to show them how much we appreciate them by helping out with some of the special supplies that they can use to enhance the learning experience even more. Broadway Legends Workshop being held Aug 8th-10th is a cooperative effort between the San Angelo Broadway Academy and other working musical theatre professionals to provide masterclass training to youth focused on musical theatre skills. All levels of experience are welcome to apply for enrollment in this workshop with programming for everyone from beginners to advanced. For more information, call 763-4807.

If your dog needs to go to school, take advantage of Dog Training Classes beginning Wed, Aug 7th. Basic dog obedience training is for dogs four months and older. The 6 session training is an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) training program. Basic commands are taught and at the end, a 10-skill test is given. Its a 'Celebration Of Music' talent contest Sun, Aug 11th at 7 pm in the San Angelo Performing Arts Center. Local Contestants at this event are vying for a chance to be on a national television show called Celebration of Music filming in Los Angeles, CA. You'll see bands, soloists, duets, choirs, instrumentalists and dancers with contestants age 4-25. Plus audience members will be able to place their vote, helping determine the winner, who will be announced at the end of the live show! The 46th Annual Sutton County Days & Sonora Outlaw Rodeo is being held this Fri &Sat, Aug 9th & 10th. Enjoy Rodeo performances both days and all day activities under the pavilion and at the Sutton County Park on Saturday. There's a Classic & Custom Car Parade Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. Saturday night dance to Groupo Fuerzzo, Two Tons of Steel & Jason Boland & The Stragglers.

.Be Theatre presents their season opener with the annual summer tradition of cheering, booing and popcorn throwing back for a 7th year this Fri & Sat, Aug 9th & 10th! The 'Beguiling Bootlegger' is set in the roaring 1920’s in downtown San Angelo at a scandalous speakeasy. This melodramatic original tale (that may or may not be true) is sure to bring side splitting humor along with gallons of popcorn popped and ready to hurl at your favorite villains. Enjoy an afternoon of art making at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts every Thursday from 3-6 pm in the Education Studio. They always feature fun with clay and watercolors, and every three weeks there are two new art projects to try. Admission is free and visitors are welcome to drop in anytime between 3 and 6.

Fort Concho’s “Fun at the Fort” aims to bust summertime boredom with children’s programs that cover everything from photography to cooking with one-day sessions from 9:30 am until noon through July 24th. Registration information is available at fortconcho.com or by calling 657-4441.

The Concho Valley Farmers Market’s thrice-weekly produce sales begin at 7 am each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday under the pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St. across from Fort Concho. The vendors, who come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo, sell locally grown seasonal fruits, vegetables and plants. For more information, call 245-3338.

This Tuesday, August 6th will be the final Summer Kids World free program this year in Sunset mall as school soon starts.
