The Angelo State Ram baseball team is 2-0 in the 2021 Division II College Baseball World Series and will look today to advance to the National Championship. Today’s semi-final is the farthest the program has gone in its history.

First pitch is scheduled for 10 am in Cary, North Carolina and will be shown at Sports Next Level on the big screen in San Angelo. The number three seed Rams will take on the sixth seeded Wingate Bulldogs.

The Rams beat the Bulldogs 6-2 in their first game and then beat the Seton Hall Pirates in their second game, 9-4. Wingate eliminated the number two seeded Pirates yesterday with a 5-1 win. Angelo State is in the winner’s bracket and can eliminate Wingate with a victory today.

This is the Rams 4th appearance in the College World Series. All their appearances have taken place under their current head coach Kevin Brooks. Brooks also took the Rams to the College World Series in 2007, 2015 and 2016.

With victories in their first two games, Angelo State enters today’s game with a record of 44-7. Wingate is 36-13. The double elimination tournament runs through Sunday.
