Texas Medal Of The Arts Recipients For 2017 Named
Texas is going to honor both Kris Kristofferson and Kenny Rogers with some very distinguished awards.
The Texas Medal of the Arts celebrates artists and entertainers from Texas that embody the Texas spirit.
Kristofferson’s Multimedia Award will honor his illustrious career as an actor, singer and songwriter.
Kenny Rogers will receive the Texas Medal of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his career success as a crossover artist.
Past awards recipients include Willie Nelson, Charley Pride and Lyle Lovett.
Both Texas natives, Rogers and Kristofferson will receive their awards during a ceremony February 21st and 22nd in Austin. The event honors Texans that have made significant contributions to the arts with the Stars of Texas Brunch at the Governor’s Mansion and a star-studded awards show and gala dinner. The event also highlights the impact of the arts on the Texas economy and education system.
Other honorees who will receive Texas Medal of the Arts awards include Paul Mitchell, Jaclyn Smith, Scott Pelley, Yolanda Adams among others.
