The largest oil refinery in America since 1977 is coming to South Texas, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Raven Petroleum is building the refinery on 200 acres of ranch land in Duval County. The refinery will process up to 50,000 barrels of crude oil from the Eagle Ford shale for exportation to Mexico.

The Eagle Ford shale is a sedimentary rock formation rich with oil and natural gas that stretches from the Mexican border to the eastern side of South Texas.

Construction of the refinery is expected to wrap up by the end of 2018.

You may remember a recent post we did on Texas experiencing a new oil boom as a massive amount of oil and natural gas is being discovered in the Permian Basin. The United States Geological Survey recently discovered the largest oil find in U.S. history in the Wolfcamp shale in West Texas.

Now we need to refine it!
