Two-Vehicle Rollover Crash Injures Pedestrian

Investigators with the San Angelo Police Department’s Traffic Section are continuing their investigation into a two-vehicle rollover crash that injured a nearby pedestrian Wednesday evening.

Police and Fire Department personnel were initially dispatched to the intersection of 1^st and Koenigheim around 5 p.m.  When Police arrived, they discovered Medics performing CPR on a male pedestrian that was struck by one of the vehicles involved in the crash. 

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old San Angelo man, was transported to Shannon Medical Center with incapacitating injuries.  At the time of this release, he was listed in critical condition.

A preliminary crash investigation revealed the pedestrian was standing in the vicinity of the intersection when a Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling east to west attempted to cross Koenigheim.  The Malibu’s driver, a 62-year-old San Angelo man, failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and subsequently collided with a Mercury Mountaineer that was traveling northbound on Koenigheim.  The force of the collision caused the Mountaineer to roll and hit the pedestrian.

The driver of the Malibu received non-incapacitating injuries and refused transport.  The driver of the Mountaineer, a 31-year-old San Angelo woman, and her infant child passenger were transported to San Angelo Community Medical Center for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.
