In 2017 Dalton Domino released one of Texas' most carefully crafted albums in Corners. Since then we have been given intimate access to his personal life as he's worked battling personal demons and addiction. It seems candor and honesty are two things that Dalton can't help but give -- which makes him impossible to root against.

Back in May we got our first glimpse into his next project, Songs From Exile, with "All I Need" a duet with newcomer Kalsey Kulyk. Domino told Billboard of the song, "It’s about how two people, no matter how opposite they are, find a way to each other and fall in love. It’s about how crazy the idea of love is. And we aren’t sure why it happens. But how happy we are that it does.“

On Friday (July 21) we got another look into the album. With “Daddy’s Mud" Domino rips out his entire heart, sets it to music, and sings the song it makes. What a powerful song and video. He'd likely describe it differently, maybe try to play it down, or off completely, but once again Dalton showcases his unabashed honesty; something that endears us all to him.

Songs From Exile will be released on Aug. 23.
