Eden, Texas is just a small West Texas town at the Junction of U.S. Highway 83 and 87.  Most of us think of it as where we make a turn whenever we're driving to Junction or San Antonio.  Some of us may have noticed that "Garden of Eden" cleverly named along the way in the city center.

What you might not know is that while Eden only boasts about 3,000 residents, this Concho County crossroads community is also at the crossroads for the Arts.

Eden is the home for the Green Apple Art Center. According to the website, in 2009 the Foster Charitable Foundation granted the City of Eden a complex of buildings that used to house Eden Wool and Mohair, Eden Locker Plant and a feed store.  The buildings were a part of Eden's cultural heritage but they were very dilapidated.  In 2013, the Green Apple Art Center was launched with a concert series.

The Green Apple Art Center centers on live music, but that's not all.  They are an outlet for artisans, such as blacksmiths, textile artist, photographers, even stained glass window artists.

This summer the concert series is heating up with a huge performance this Saturday night as The Green Apple Art Center welcomes David Ramirez to the stage.

It is hard to believe that art and culture can not only exist but thrive in such a frontier ranch town, but it does in Eden. The ticket prices are quite reasonable and the level of staging and entertainment make this venue a hidden gem. So, next time instead of just taking that curve at the Intersection of 83 and 87, and snickering as you drive past "the Garden of Eden" stop awhile and take it in.  You might just find that when it comes to entertainment, the arts, and a great time, this truly is an "eden".
