We've known for awhile that two new tasty businesses were coming to 1819 Knickerbocker Rd. next to Bonsai Garden across from San Angelo Stadium. Now, we're finding out that both should open before the end of the summer.

Smoothie King is scheduled to open in July.  Jason's Deli by the end of August as of now.

So, what can we expect?  First of all, Smoothie King.

Smoothie King has capitalized on a viral trend in nutrition.  The Smoothie.  It involves carefully selecting fresh and healthy ingredients and blending them into a delicious drink that people who are concerned about nutrition can enjoy.

They feature "Get Fit Blends" which pack protein and nutrients into a delicious drink.

The Smoothie fad has swept the world.  So, what are the benefits of smoothies, aside from the refreshment value. According to a health nutritionist website, smoothies have benefits.  Smoothies retain more of the fiber form the fruits and veggies that are used in making them. That can help improve digestion.

The best smoothies are "green" smoothies from veggies as they have higher nitrate values and can help with maintaining a healthy blood pressure. Smoothie King will have a variety of those. However, all smoothies cause a spike in blood sugar, especially if you consume them in high quantities.

Jason's Deli is also expecting to be open before the end of August.  Jason's Deli has a lot of fans. There is already a buzz forming on San Angelo social media about Jason's Deli. According to their Facebook page Jason's Deli's food is free from high fructose corn syrup, artificial trans fats and flavors, processed MSG and dyes.

Jason's Deli has a lot of delivery options and is a favorite of workplace gatherings and special events.

It's all about options. With the addition of these two new businesses on Knickerbocker, we have a few new "healthy" eating options coming to San Angelo.  The fact that more and more businesses are locating in San Angelo, means people are betting on our economy.  That is always a good thing.
