Lubbock County Sets Another Single-Day Record for COVID-19 Cases on Tuesday as Active Cases Triple Since January 1
For the third time in two weeks, Lubbock County has set a single-day record for novel coronavirus cases.
Tuesday, January 11th, 2022; 900 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in Lubbock County. The breaks the previous single-day record of 833 which was set the previous day on January 10th.
A single-day record of 813 cases was also reported on January 3rd, 2022, in Lubbock County.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Lubbock County has tripled since the start of the new year.
On December 28th, 2021, Lubbock County had 1,931 active COVID-19 cases. Two days later, it jumped to 2,311. Then, on December 31st, 2021, the active number of cases rose again to 2,672.
To start the new year, the active number of cases rose again by almost 300 to 2,958. On January 2nd, 2022, the active number of cases increased to 3,487. Less than one week later, on January 8th, 2022, the active number of COVID-19 cases in Lubbock County essentially doubled to 6,846. The next day, January 9th, the number increased by over 600 to 7,508. Then on January 10th, the active number of Coronavirus cases went up by approximately 500 to 8,014. Finally, on January 11th, the active number of cases increased by 1,000 to 9,028.

However, while the number of active COVID-19 cases have dramatically risen in Lubbock County, the number of deaths has stayed very low. Out of a total number of 79,182 COVID-19 cases in Lubbock County, 967 people have died, a percentage of 1.22.
