Jason Isbell Drops New Album ‘Something More Than Free’ July 17th

Jason Isbell will have a new album out July 17th. Something More Than Free is Isbell's 5th studio album since leaving the Drive-By Truckers in 2007.

Isbell teams up with producer Dave Cobb who produced Isbell's Americana Album of the Year Southeastern released back in 2013. Cobb's credits also include Chris Stapleton's latest album Traveller, Whiskey Myers' Early Morning Shakes along with Isbell's new album. Jason Isbell told Radio.com,

He’s really nerdy when it comes to sound and gear and microphones, compressors and guitar pedals and amps and all that good stuff,” Isbell says of Cobb. “But the thing that I probably value the most in Dave is his instinct for what works and what doesn’t. He’s really good at doing essentially what a producer should do, which is provide a standard of taste in the studio.
