UPDATE: Concho River Trash Is Now Gone
As a follow up on yesterday's blog about garbage on the Concho River, I decided to walk by the river again the next day to see if the conditions had improved.
As you can see from the photo below, things have gotten better. The trash that was floating in this very spot the day before is now gone. I do not know if the river was cleaned or if the trash just dissipated or floated farther down stream.
As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, it seemed like the rain from the last couple of days lead to the build up of debris on the river. The good news is there is no rain in the forecast in the foreseeable future, so hopefully we won't see any more trash pile up on the river.
I do not know if the trash moved down river as the area I frequently walk by is on Veterans Memorial Drive near Santa Fe Park and I didn't go much farther down stream from where I was at to see if debris was floating outside the area I take my walk.
As I said on Tuesday, the river is a beautiful part of our small city and we take pride in the way it looks. It draws people to San Angelo, so it is important we keep the Concho River clean.
So, tell us your thoughts. How important is the Concho River to you here in San Angelo? Give us your opinion on Facebook or chat with us on our station app.
