His new, self-titled album was out last Tuesday. It peaked inside the Top 5 on iTunes, no small task for an independent artist. Last week Wade Bowen called into Radio Texas, LIVE! to debut four tracks off his new project, exclusively for our listeners.

What we learned from Wade's call:

1. The new music is really good.
2. How Vince Gill got involved in West Texas Rain, and that he was nearly featured in Wade's last album, The Given.
3. Sweet Leona was inspired by a trip to a California winery, not a woman.
4. Leona was his great-grandmother's name, something he didn't know till after he wrote the song.
5. The first time Wade was on my show, over five years ago, he sang Long Enough to be a Memory live.
6. Wade revealed he's actually been holding on to a lot of these songs for a while.
7. Honky Tonk Road was not written by Walt Wilkins.
8. Randy Rogers, Cody Canada and Sean McConnell join Wade on Honky Tonk Road.

And a big "Thank you!" to everyone that participated in our #WhenIWokeUpToday contest with Wade. Click here to see our winners pics (names not included, to spare them the embarrassment).
