So much music in the Concho Valley over the weekend.  Let's take a gander at some of the artists who made their way into town.

We kicked of the weekend with Jon Wolfe live at Midnight Rodeo and he put on a heck of a show.  He played all his hits along with some new tunes which kept the dance floor packed.  As Jon would say, it all happened in a honky tonk.  Midnight Rodeo did have something new that I noticed, the new Miller Lite pop top cans.  Typically I'd prefer a longneck but with the cans only being $1 I was sold.

Eventually I headed over to Blaine's Pub for the Midnight River Choir and boy that was a show.  The Midnight River Choir puts a cool twist on Texas/Red Dirt music with feel good lyrics and unique tones that make you just feel great.  The guys from MRC are pretty nice fellows as well.  They had even brought a friend along named Statton who hopped on stage to play a few of his own tunes.  I'm not sure where Statton came from but I'm ready to hear a studio album.

Saturday evening the Birds flocked for the first time to Stillwater Bar & Grill, the Thieving Birds that is.  This was the first time I've been able to catch a full Thieving Birds show and it was spectacular.  They jammed out all their current tune such as Hey Leigh, Stuck In Memphis and Kentucky along with new tunes for the next album.  Good friends, cold beer and superb Texas Music made for a great night.  All in all it was a great weekend for music in the Concho Valley.
