The Annual Cinch Roping Fiesta continues to be one of San Angelo's biggest annual events and the Roping Fiesta will celebrate their 68th year in 2021 as the event is being held October 29th through October 31st.

Although there are numerous Roping events going on throughout the Roping Fiesta, a fan favorite is always the match roping. Anticipation is always high as fans wonder which two among the top ropers in the world will be selected to face off in the Match Roping. The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association has just announced that Shad Mayfield and Tuf Cooper will face off on Saturday, October 30th.

If you have never seen the "Match Roping" and how it works, here is a basic description: It's a twelve head roping contest between two calf ropers with each roping six calves in between other roping events. The match roping is a winner take all $20,000 pot that of course comes with bragging rights!

The Match Roping is just one of numerous roping events throughout the three day Cinch Roping Fiesta.

The Preliminary Calf Roping Qualifier is open to anyone that did not receive an invitation to the Cinch Roping Invitational Calf Roping. Admission to the Preliminary Roping in the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena is free.

The Top Ropers in the Average will be invited to compete in the Invitational Calf Roping the following day. The Invitational Calf Roping is held on Saturday in the Outdoor Roping Arena on the San Angelo Fairgrounds.

The Invitational Steer Roping is held on Sunday of the Roping Fiesta . This event features approximately 30 of the nation's top competitors in the event.

The Double Mugging is held in conjunction with the Steer Roping on Sunday as well.  This entertaining event features a pair of mounted cowboys attempting to rope and tie a yearling. The event has turned into a sure crowd favorite!

Something that is really great about the Roping Fiesta is that it not only features the world's top calf ropers, but West Texas has plenty of roping talent that can hold their own as they compete with those guys during the Fiesta, but for whatever reason didn't decide to make it a career.

The event will take place on the San Angelo Fairgrounds at the outdoor arena near the San Angelo Coliseum with some events being held in other areas including the 1st Community Credit Union Spur Arena. Don't miss the fun October 29th through the 31st. Tickets go on sale October 4, 2021.
