Comedy of Errors at Walmart Leads to Arrest of Lufkin Father, Son
A Lufkin Man and his son were booked into the Angelina County Jail on Thursday due to a series of events at the Walmart Supercenter in Lufkin.
According to the Lufkin Police Report, Richard Gilbert Jr., 51, reportedly placed a four-pack of beer and shirt in a Walmart shopping bag and headed for the door in an electric shopping cart. He was stopped just before exiting the doors and acted as if he was going to walk with a loss prevention employee to the store office. He then left the store and was attempting to back out of a parking spot when his vehicle apparently broke down.
While sitting in his vehicle waiting for police, Gilbert, Jr. called his son, Richard Gilbert III, 21, to come get his vehicle. After coming to the store, the son was arrested on a criminal trespass charge due to having previously received a warning for the Walmart.
