Each year, since 1999, the San Angelo Fire Department gets together, with the help of the generous people of San Angelo, and they raise money for their 'Fill the Boot' project. 'Fill the Boot' raises money for the children in the Concho Valley who are affected by Muscular Dystrophy.

This Wednesday through Friday, April 1st - April 3rd, you will see the SAFD at one of four intersections throughout San Angelo from 7:30 to 5:30 each day:

  • 29th & North Bryant
  • Abe & Harris
  • Johnson & Knickerbocker
  • Sherwood Way & Avenue N

For the past 5 years, these hard working firefighters have raised over $50,000.00 each year for MDA. They have raised over half a million dollars for local families who are dealing with the neuromuscular diseases over the past 16 years. Firefighter Mason Matthews explained,

The Fill The Boot Campaign never disappoints. San Angeloans always give selflessly and generously to the cause, and SAFD gets to mingle with the public we serve each day in a casual, uplifting manner. We're looking forward to sharing some smiles, passing out stickers to the kiddos, shaking some hands and, of course, collecting a lot of funds for MDA.

With these guys being out and about in the streets, we would like to remind you to drive a little more carefully on these days. The SAFD firefighters will be coming and going in their efforts to raise money, and we ask you to keep an eye out for them, and do what you can to ensure their safety as well as yours.  At these intersections other vehicles might be braking suddenly, so be careful!
