I Have A Great Vacation Idea For You!
I took a little vacation time last week which I was certainly ready for and I wanted to share what I found to be an outstanding place to have an awesome getaway that's less than three hours away!!
I have a long time friend of over 30 years who lives in Bryan/College Station. We worked in radio together there for many of those years. Almost 13 years ago, I took a job opportunity to move to San Angelo but we have always stayed in contact with phone conversations.
I haven't seen my friend in probably 10 or 11 years and at some point during our conversation, we always bring up having a guy's getaway for a couple of days somewhere that would have plenty to do. His wife and my Kellie were all for it so we decided that Fredericksburg was close to the halfway point and would have plenty of things to do.
Little did I know just how much fun Fredericksburg with a population of around 11,000 had to offer!!
We stayed just off of Main Street and walked all up and down Main which had so much to offer including award-winning Wineries, breweries, awesome authentic German cuisine, burgers, many other choices for food and drink.
Wine Spectator Magazine was quoted as saying "Head to Fredericksburg, one of the Lone Star State's most charming towns and the Hill Country's unofficial capital of food and wine."
There were places to shop everywhere you looked, live music, museums, and just a lot to do and see.
Something else to take note of is that you are right in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and not far from Luckenbach, Floore's Texas Honky Tonk in Helotes, New Braunfels, and numerous other great places to visit in the Hill Country.
Many of you are still trying to decide where to go and what to do this year for vacation. I highly recommend Fredericksburg, especially if you've never been!!!
