San Angelo's Meals for the Elderly and HEB are working together to provide six hundred Holiday food plates and distribute them to older and disabled residents in San Angelo today (Nov 3rd, 2020).

H-E-B has donated these meals since 2008 as part of its Feast of Sharing initiative to prevent hunger.

Jessica Behringer, Director of Development and Marketing for Meals for the Elderly, said "H-E-B sponsored all of the meals by donating the cost of food. All of the meals that go out will have an H-E-B sticker on them to indicate their donation."

This is quite an undertaking because there are 49 routes with 47 drivers delivering the Thanksgiving meals.

Nick George, H-E-B top store leader said.... "This is a very underserved community, and Meals for the Elderly does a great job serving them. Nonprofit work is more of a calling than it is a job, and they are amazing at it."

The H‑E‑B Feast of Sharing has been an annual event and HEB's way of getting the community into the Holiday spirit, but with the concerns of COVID-19, in‑person dinners are on hold until 2021. So, this Holiday season, H‑E‑B will take its annual Feast of Sharing dinner into homes across Texas and Mexico as they donate more than 340,000 meals to hunger relief organizations and food banks in Texas and Mexico during November and December.

H‑E‑B is making monetary and food donations to 18 Texas food banks and more than 40 hunger relief agencies to help support those in need throughout the season.
