This week brings you back to school events, tax free shopping, a celebration of the arts, and more. Check out this weeks list of activities and events in San Angelo......

The Cross Point Fellowship Church at 4210 Coliseum Drive is hosting their 2nd 'Back to School' Bash this Saturday from 5-8 pm. The first 50 elementary & first 50 middle or high school students will receive a backpack full of school supplies. There's also door prizes, free haircuts, balloons and much more. The Summer Kids World program at Sunset Mall is free every Tuesday from 2 - 3 p.m. through August 9. The events are being held inside the Community Room which is located next to Sears. For more information and a complete schedule go to sunsetmall.com or call 325-949-1947.

Every Thursday, enjoy an afternoon of art making in the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art Education Studio! They always feature clay and watercolor, and every three weeks there are two new art projects to try. Visitors are welcome to drop in anytime between 3 and 6 p.m. Please allow at least 30 minutes to try all projects.

The Concho Valley Farmers Market is your opportunity to pick up fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and plants. Vendors come from a 75-mile radius around San Angelo. The Market is held from 7 a.m. until they sell out (typically by noon) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday under the pavilion at 609 S. Oakes St. across from Fort Concho.

Every Friday evening through September 30th, you are invited to enjoy 'Downtown Movie Night' starting at 9 pm. Admission is free and you're invited to bring your own chairs. Hotdogs, popcorn and soft drinks will be available. Catch 'Downtown Movie Night' in the parking lot between the Cactus Hotel and Miss Hattie's Cafe. For more information, call 325-6565.

This Friday through Sunday, Aug. 5th - 7th....It's No Sales Tax Weekend!  As in previous years, during this year’s Sales Tax Holiday, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales taxes.

August 6th is the 1st Saturday in August and the Old Chicken Farm Art Center will be bringing you another monthly celebration of art, music and community from 10 am - 5 pm. The event includes artist vendors with handmade works and gifts, a live music circle hosted by the Chicken Pickers, great food, and free clay art experiments for kids to participate in. It's good family fun for everyone. The Chicken Farm Art Center is located at 2505 Martin Luther King Blvd. For more information, call 325-653-4936.
