This is the 150th Anniversary of the creation of the Buffalo Soldier units of the U.S. Army and Ft. Concho invites you to the celebration today (July 28th).........

There will be a special ceremony at 6:30 pm on the Fort's Parade Ground. The Fort's Buffalo Soldier living history unit will take down the flag and fire the evening gun, as it was done in years past.

Guest are invited to gather in the Commissary to discuss the history of the Soldiers with Dr. John Langellier, a noted historian who will be selling copies the book he wrote about the Buffalo Soldiers titled 'Fighting For Uncle Sam: Buffalo Soldiers in the Frontier Army'.
