The masks again?

You may remember back in May I wrote a blog asking is it time for San Angelo to take off our masks?

Now I have to ask is it time to put back on our masks?

Back then I said it looked like we were coming out of the pandemic. Now reports are coming out this week saying COVID cases are on the rise.

Swiftly rising coronavirus cases across the United States and abroad fueled fears of a pandemic resurgence on Monday and sent shockwaves through stock markets as the highly contagious Delta variant appeared to be taking hold.

Many of the new outbreaks were in parts of the country where COVID-19 vaccinations have lagged, prompting political leaders to ramp up pressure on reluctant Americans to get the inoculations.

Although reportedly not heavily covered, Democrats who took "Delta variant airlines" to flee the Texas Legislature are being called "super spreaders" for not wearing masks on their flight.

NewsBusters associate editor Scott Whitlock found that ABC, NBC and CBS hardly covered news of the members of the Texas delegation testing positive for coronavirus after coming to Washington last week on a private jet, while taking maskless selfies.

So, if COVID cases are on the rise and there are calls for certain airline passengers to wear masks in close quarters, is it time to wear masks again?

I am not sure I am ready to do this again. I was thankful when Governor Greg Abbott lifted the mask mandate in Texas in May. Right now local governments and even schools cannot require masks.

So, what do you think? Is is time for us here in San Angelo to put back on our masks? What about if you are already vaccinated. Should you not be required to wear a mask? Tell us your opinion on Facebook or chat with us on our station app.
