Ram Baseball Team to Hold World Series Send-Off
The Angelo State University baseball team clinched a spot in the Division II College World Series with a win over West Texas A&M on Saturday and this morning the university will hold a send off for the team.
The send off will be held at the Norris Baseball Clubhouse, located next to Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium starting at 9:30 am. The event is free and open to the public according the the school.
The Rams took the South Central Regional Tournament championship with a blow out 18-4 victory over their Lone Star Conference rival. The win sent Rams on their way to compete in the World Series in Cary, North Carolina starting on Sunday.
Angelo State is the number three seed in the World Series tournament. Their first opponent will be the six seed, Wingate. The Rams enter the World Series with a record of 42-7. Wingate sports a 34-12 record. Six other teams will play in the eight team tournament that is double elimination and will run through Monday, June 12th.
This is the Rams 4th appearance in the College World Series. All of their appearances have taken place under their current head coach Kevin Brooks. Brooks also took the Rams to the College World Series in 2007, 2015 and 2016.
