There are some crazy things that you see when living in Texas, but this just might take the cake.

I came across a TikTok showing a video of a Watusi steer being led into a pet store on a lead. The steer gently makes its way in, turning its head as to not damage the doors with its horns, and is greeted by the store's staff. The video has the caption “when PetCo says any pet on a leash is welcome. South Texas version.”

I did some digging and found that this was not the original post of this video. I found the TikTok account that belongs to the owners of the Watusi and discovered that the steer's name is Oliver. The original video was posted on Facebook a few years back and recently started circulating on TikTok.

The owners said that Oliver is a gentle giant, well trained, and the staff at the pet store are familiar with him and love when he comes to say hello. The owners have been taking Oliver out like this since he was two years old, and he just turned 17 yesterday, August 10, 2021.

The funny thing is, I wouldn’t even be that surprised to see something like this happen right here in Lubbock, Texas. I would absolutely be more excited than surprised to see such a beautiful animal stop by a store and say hi to everyone.

If you want to see more of Oliver and the other animals on the ranch he lives at, you can find them on TikTok @oliverwatusi.
